What were some of the highlights of your time in the US?

I love travelling to compete, throughout my time in America I have been to at least 15 states and met lots of great people from travelling.
Describe a typical day in your life as a student/athlete. Most days I wake up, head down to one of the dining halls to eat, go to class, get lunch, head to training where I throw and do track work before lifting weights. Get dinner with training partners and head back to the dorms to hang out.

How did you balance your studies, sport and spare time?

It’s difficult to balance everything at first but once you get into a good routine it’s easy. As long as you’re getting good sleep and making sure to eat regularly the athletic side of things is quite straightforward. Academically speaking, if you do well, the university does well, so there are free tutors and academic advisors available.

What would you say to a high school student considering a US Scholarship?

If you want to experience some independence, pursue your sport and also get a degree then the U.S. collegiate system is a great option for you.

What are you up to now?

Now at the end of my time in college I am headed over to Scotland for the Commonwealth Games to compete in July, before coming back home to Brisbane.
